Thesis & Intro

       The United States was unjustified in dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki because it shows how the power of the U.S. increased war tensions with the Soviet Union, killed more than 200,000 innocent civilians, and gave birth to an era of continued worldwide nuclear threat.
     
       WWII was already a dramatic war without what was about to happen. Japan was about to receive a planned attack by the allied powers. This would not only cause harm to the American lives, but mostly to the lives of the Japanese. Knowing that the Japanese would not surrender the allies still went in for the invasion. Since Japan was not willing to surrender, extreme force and thought would be plotted to defeat Japan, which resulted in the dropping of the two atomic bombs on Japan. Bombing Japan would save American lives, and also cost less to America, but resulted into the death of many innocent civilians in Japan. It not only killed many civilians who were harmless, but also created drama with the Soviet Union.  The United States did not tell Stalin about the atomic bomb before dropping them, and went against their agreements causing drama and conflict with the Soviet Union.  It even started a time period of continued nuclear threat.  After the United States dropped the bombs on Japan, the Soviet Union started to develop their own atomic bomb shortly after, and both countries developed even more powerful fusion weapons including the "hydrogen bomb".
